I'm an assistant professor at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a special interest in online journalism and the future of news. I joined the School of Journalism and Mass Communication in July 2007.
Before coming to UNC, I spent my career in the newsroom, focusing on online journalism. Most recently, I was the managing editor of USNews.com, the online arm of U.S. News & World Report. I also served as a managing editor for Congressional Quarterly's Web site, www.cq.com, and was the national/international editor for The Washington Post's Web site, www.washingtonpost.com from 2003 to 2005. I started working in online news when I joined washingtonpost.com as a producer in 1997.
